Chris has been extremely helpful throughout the entire mold inspection process. The actual inspection was very thorough, and he explained everything as he went along. Despite the lab being busy this time of year, the results came back fast and he made sure to update us when he received them. The written report was extremely in depth, and did not miss any details. He was also available to answer questions we had after receiving the report. I would highly recommend Chris and NMS!

Outstanding experience with the Neptune Mold Solutions team, from start to finish. They were able to come out quickly and were incredibly courteous and professional during the inspection, and even stopped to show some love to our eager golden retriever that was so keenly interested in their presence. More than anything, appreciate how prompt, frank, and honest Chris was with a few of the follow-up questions I had for him after reviewing the results. Would definitely recommend NMS to anyone needing a service like theirs.

Indoor Air Quality Testing in Austin, TX

Do you ever stop to think about the air you breathe inside your home or office? Many people in Austin don’t realize that indoor air can quietly harm their health, comfort, and even their property value. In our humid climate, allergens and mold thrive, and invisible particles, like dust, fumes, and spores, can build up in the air over time.

At Neptune Mold Solutions, we make it simple for you to find out what’s really in your air. Our indoor air quality testing service in Austin is designed to uncover hidden problems and help you take control of your health and peace of mind.

If you’ve been feeling “off” lately at home, let us test your air and find the cause so you can breathe easy again.

What Is Air Quality Testing?

Indoor air quality tests examine the air inside your home for allergens, moldMildew, radon, and other harmful environmental pollutants.

A licensed professional should carry out testing for these pollutants by collecting samples from different areas of the property and sending them to a laboratory for analysis.

What Does an Air Quality Test Detect?

Our Air Quality tests measure three main categories of indoor pollutants:

  • Biological Pollutants
  • Chemical Pollutants or VOC’s (volatile organic compounds)
  • Combustion Pollutants

Airborne Biological Contaminants

These are tiny particles from living things, like mold, bacteria, dust mites, and pet dander. Many of these can trigger allergic reactions, asthma attacks, or even infections if the levels are high.

Why do they matter? Biological pollutants thrive in warm, damp places like bathrooms, kitchens, or HVAC ducts. They’re so small you can’t see them floating in the air, but you breathe them in every day. Our tests capture air samples on special filters that trap these particles so the lab can count and identify them.

If you’re constantly sneezing or feeling congested at home, these could be the reasons, and we can confirm it.

Chemical Pollutants or VOC's

Volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, are gases released from everyday materials like paint, cleaning products, new carpet, or furniture. They slowly “off-gas” over time, filling your indoor air with fumes that can irritate your lungs, cause headaches, or make you feel dizzy.

Why test for them? VOCs don’t have to smell strong to be dangerous, and levels can build up indoors because of poor ventilation. We use specialized tubes or cassettes that absorb these gases, then analyze them in the lab to see exactly what’s present and how much.

If your home smells “chemical” or you feel lightheaded inside, VOCs might be at fault.

Combustion Pollutants

These come from anything that burns fuel, such as gas stoves, fireplaces, or heaters. They produce carbon monoxide, smoke particles, or radon, all of which can seriously harm your health at high levels.

Why test for them? Carbon monoxide and radon are invisible and odorless, so you won’t notice them without proper testing. We use meters to check for carbon monoxide right away and take air samples for lab analysis of smoke and radon levels.

If you worry about home safety, especially with kids or elderly family members, testing gives you peace of mind.

Common Causes of Bad Indoor Air Quality

If the air in your home feels stuffy, musty, or leaves you with frequent allergies, the problem may be hidden pollutants affecting your indoor air quality. Many homeowners don’t realize how quickly these issues build up — especially in Houston’s hot, humid climate — until they start noticing health symptoms or musty odors.

Here are some of the most common causes we find during air quality inspections:

1. Poor Ventilation

Without proper airflow, stale air, dust, and moisture get trapped inside. Over time, this leads to discomfort, unwanted odors, and can even make breathing harder for sensitive individuals.
How we help: Our air quality testing pinpoints problem areas so you know exactly where ventilation improvements are needed.

2. Indoor Pollutants

Every day products release chemicals into the air, from cleaning supplies to tobacco smoke. These pollutants can linger inside your home, triggering headaches, allergies, and long-term health concerns.
How we help: We test for common household contaminants so we know what’s in your air and how to address it.

3. Mold and Mildew

Moisture and humidity create the perfect environment for mold growth. Once mold spores spread through the air, they can worsen asthma, trigger allergies, and affect your family’s health.
How we help: Our testing detects hidden mold spores and moisture issues, giving you the answers you need before problems get worse.

Signs You Need to Get Tested?

Consider scheduling an inspection with Neptune Mold Solutions If you experience any of the following:

Musty Odors

Persistent odors that linger even after deep cleaning the suspected area. This is one of the first indications of the presence of a hidden indoor pollutant.

Symptoms such as coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, worsening asthma, or allergies might indicate the presence of indoor pollutants. Mold spores, dust mites, pet dander, and VOCs are common culprits contributing to these respiratory symptoms.

If your property has experienced recent water damage, leaks, or flooding, it significantly increases the risk of mold growth and other indoor pollutants. Even after repairs, moisture trapped in walls or under flooring can lead to mold and bacterial growth if removed incorrectly.

Persistent allergy symptoms like sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, or skin irritation while indoors might indicate the presence of allergens like pollen, dust mites, or pet dander circulating in the air.

If you see visible mold growth on surfaces like walls, ceilings, or around vents, call a professional mold inspector immediately. Mold can release spores into the air, potentially causing health issues and structural damage if left unchecked. Visible mold growth will certainly pollute your indoor space.

Our Indoor Air Quality Testing Process

1. Initial Consultation

We will conduct an initial assessment of your property, discussing any concerns or symptoms you've noticed regarding indoor air quality. Our consultant will evaluate the property's history, potential sources of indoor pollutants, and areas of concern.

2. Testing Strategy

Based on the assessment, our consultant will develop a sampling plan tailored to your property's specific needs. This plan outlines the locations and methods for air sample collection, considering areas prone to moisture, suspected mold growth, or high-traffic zones.

3. Moisture & Humidity Measurements

Utilizing moisture meters and hygrometers, our consultant may assess moisture levels in walls, ceilings, floors, or other areas prone to water intrusion or high humidity.

4. Air Sample Collection

Using specialized equipment such as air pumps, air sampling cassettes, or spore traps, the consultant will collect air samples from different areas of your home or business. Different sampling techniques can be used, such as spot sampling (a single-time sample) or cumulative sampling (ongoing sampling throughout a defined duration).

5. Laboratory Analysis

Collected air and surface samples are carefully labeled and sent to certified laboratories for analysis. These samples are carefully examined to identify specific pollutants, their concentrations, and potential health risks associated with them.

6. Detailed Report

Neptune Mold Solutions compiles a detailed report outlining the findings after receiving the results, including concentration levels of identified pollutants and potential health risks. The report also includes personalized recommendations and strategies to address the identified issues, which may involve mold remediation, improving ventilation, or using air purification systems.

Kris and Neptune Mold Solutions should be your go to contact for any mold concerns or inspection requirements. Kris is very knowledgeable, professional and high integrity. One week before scheduled closing our buyer requested attic mold remediation be completed as a condition of closing. Kris sorted through buyer's inspection report to isolate the real mold issues, completed his inspection and sampling and issued his mold assessment report and protocol for required remediation the next day. He also recommended a highly qualified remediation team that was able to complete the work in one day allowing Kris to do final testing/sampling and complete the clearance inspection and provide all necessary reporting and certifications to satisfy buyer's request for closing. Kris was instrumental in coordinating with the contractor in getting the required remediation and testing done within a very tight timeline. Without Kris and his dedication and expertise we would have not made the required closing deadline. With something as serious and complicated as mold you want Kris and Neptune Mold Solutions on your side. I highly recommend them.

Kristina and Kris are amazing! From my first phone call with them, they went above and beyond. They took time to explain what to expect, what they were going to do, and next steps. They answered my texts and calls almost immediately. They came to two mold inspections and provided the reports very timely. They also had a call with me after the first report to help me understand what I should do, what all I needed to get rid of, and how to clean items I could keep. Will be using them in the future. Highly recommend!

Chris just left my house. I could not have been happier with the experience. He showed up when promised, was professional and friendly, was thorough enough not only to identify the mold but to do quite a bit of sleuthing to find the origin of the problem, gave me a good deal based on the work he did (good value), and I'm looking forward to his protocol report. He made sure I understood the source of the problem and how to fix it. He was even friendly to my dog. Good guy and clearly competent, knows what he's talking about. His wife Kristina runs the office and is really quick/responsive. I would recommend Neptune strongly.

Neptune Mold Solutions (NMS) did an excellent job of helping us deal with a mold issue at our rental property. The potential mold was caused by an inadvertent small water leak in a bathroom when the house was vacant. The NMS was very prompt in coming for a site visit, taking air samples, getting the analysis done and providing a detailed report. They also prepared a detailed protocol report as a hand-off to the remediation company. After the remediation work was done, they were equally prompt to do the follow up analysis and provide a clean bill of health. All the work was done completely seamlessly and they kept us informed of the progress along the way. And always willing to answer any questions we had. A true joy to work with you Chris and Kristina and we wish you the very best.
